Using Fragrance Oils To Scent Your Life
Fragrance oils are a versatile way to scent candles, lotions, soaps, and much more. Many can also be applied directly to your skin in small amounts for fragrances that last. All quality fragrance oils are made basically the same way, but there are a ton of ways to use them.
What are fragrance oils?
Fragrance oils are also known as aroma oils, aromatic oils, and flavor oils. They are concentrated scents made from synthetics or natural compounds and are suspended in an oil base. Natural fragrance oils are also often called essential oils.
How to use home fragrance oils
Using fragrance oils in your home is a good way to provide long lasting natural scents. You can use candle fragrance oils to make scented candles. They also work in diffusers of all sorts, and in room sprays. There are even holders that work with the heat of incandescent light bulbs to diffuse the scent of your oils.
As you can see there are plenty of ways to use these aromatic oils in your home. You can even make your own scented soap with soap fragrance oils. This is helpful for those who want to create a signature scent profile in their homes, as you can add these products to nearly any unscented product to create the aroma you are looking for.
Using fragrance oils as perfume.
Most of these products can be applied directly to your skin (always check the manufacturers instructions) and you can mix them to create a layered scent that perfectly reflects your mood or personality. You can even get designer fragrance oils that closely mimic expensive designer perfumes.
One of the biggest benefits to using aroma oils as a perfume is that you can scent every body product you use with them. From lotions to soap to perfume. That way you can get one continuous scent. Just don't apply to heavily.
Where to get fragrance oils.
You can buy fragrance oils online (just google it), but they are also widely available at health food stores and the Body Shop.
There are both retail and wholesale fragrance oils available. Wholesale are generally less expensive, but you often have to buy a full pound to get wholesale pricing. If you are running a candle or soap making business this is a great way to go. Otherwise you will want to buy your oils in lower quantities.
Like all fragrances, oils do have a shelf life and begin to degrade after 6 to 12 months, so only buy what you will use in that time frame. Keeping your bottles tightly capped and away from direct light will prolong their lifespan.
As you can see fragrance oils have a wide variety of uses in scenting your home and your life. They come in a huge variety of scents. So go get some and have fun!
